Commercials are still net short, only about 30% of them are taking long positions. However the numbers taking long positions are increasing compared to previous weeks.

Commitment of Traders Report COT CFTC - Silver - Commodity Exchange Inc - 20 December 2011 Silver has been in an uptrend for quite sometime now. However we can see that the number of commercials net short is decreasing since the middle of this year and the prices have been falling ever since. They are leaning towards being net long. The 50% line is something we need to look out for. If that happens silver prices will fall further and it looks like the downward momentum is gaining steam.
